"We engaged MMC to help us devise a Marketing Strategy for each of our company’s divisional brands in 2015 and have worked in partnership ever since. This has meant engaging with stakeholders both in and out the business to develop plans for alignment of resources available to us, to our goals. Natasha managed the project and we have found her an excellent communicator, motivated to understand our goals, capable of working to the highest standards whilst meeting the toughest of deadlines and very well connected to people who can help us improve our brand. Without MMC, we could not have achieved in three years, what we have in nine months. We consider them to be part of the Simpsons Malt family, our Marketing Team if you will.”
Richard E. Simpson, Vice Chairman, Simpsons Malt

Simpsons Malt

Simpsons Malt is a 156-year-old business ran by the sixth generation of the Simpsons family. It produces the finest quality malt for the leading beer and whisky brands around the world.

MMC has been working with Simpsons Malt since December 2015.

When we initially came on board, Simpsons Malt was becoming known around the world for the exceptional quality of its malt, especially in the US, where year on year sales were increasing. Our task was to bring that passion to life through implementing a global marketing strategy to enable expansion into other global markets, especially Europe.

The Work

We have worked closely with the company’s executive team since 2015 to continually develop an effective marketing strategy – this originally involved gaining insights from stakeholders such as the executive team, brewers, staff and their global distributors; and helping them communicate what makes them stand out within a crowded marketplace.

The marketing strategy has continued to evolve, with MMC involved in every step of the way.

From positioning Simpsons Malt as the most successful and engaging maltster across digital platforms, to project managing an 8m x 6m exhibition booth at at a global industry event, right through to introducing virtual reality – bringing their “home of malt” into an exhibition hall in the US.

The Results

Year on year, Simpsons Malt remains to be the most sought after malt due to its high quality, taste and flavour. The rest of the industry aspires to achieve their level of engagement across digital platforms, and their global distributor base grows stronger each year.  As well as their global reputation, Simpsons Malt continue to climb the league table of the North East’s Top 200 Businesses.
