I firmly believe that a local network of contacts is crucial to our own success here at McDonough Marketing Communications and the wider economic success of other businesses in and around Sunderland. I am very proud to be from Sunderland, so I was thrilled on my first week at MMC to be attending the relaunch of the Sunderland Business Network. Held at the Sunderland Marriott, it was a great opportunity for them to unveil the new logo and their plans for the future.
The branding, created by Cowell + George is great and the ethos of the re-launch was magnificent – testament to the hard work and dedication of those involved to support the local business community. By building on this network I am sure that all stakeholders will have went home happier, knowing that support and encouragement is out there.
It was my first networking event working for MMC it was great to go along with our MD, Natasha. I couldn’t believe how many people she knew in the room, which made easy for me to get introduced. I made some great new connections there such as Gemma Lonsdale from Willow Hudson and Amy Watson from Sunderland Software City.
With public sector employment falling, SMEs continue to play a crucial role accounting for 60% of all of the UK’s private sector. SMEs are a large majority of our client base, we wouldn’t be here without them, so it was great to connect with more and to find out what kind of help and advice they need with their marketing strategies. Naturally we invited them along to our regular marketing surgery that we hold on the first Monday of every month at the Sunderland Software Centre.
On Tuesday night, we officially joined as paid up member of the Sunderland Business Network and look forward to attending future events and generally getting involved. We urge those of you based in around Sunderland to also join and get involved too.
