Dr Kirsty Laing has over 15 years research experience, both qualitative and quantitative. She has successfully delivered research projects in the public, private and academic sectors.
Prior to joining MMC, Kirsty worked within the Institute of Health and Society at Newcastle University.
Kirsty gained a PhD in Public Health from Newcastle University in 2015, funded by the highly competitive NIHR fellowship scheme.
She holds a MSc in Epidemiology and a BSc in Medical Microbiology.
She has worked with a wide-range of organisation types, including the NHS, local authorities, through to fast-growing software companies and engineering firms.
A critical component of Kirsty’s success as a researcher and interviewer is that she is able to feedback research findings in a way that can be understood and implemented. Rather than focus on research for research’s sake, her ethos is in research that can be used to bring about change.
Her clients include Nexus – where she worked closely with the Director General, The Political Leaders and Chief Executives of all North East local authorities to conduct research to help formulate the North East’s Regional Transport Plan; Bernicia – a social housing provider – where she conducted a perceptions study with key stakeholders; and a research project with the UK’s Tech Cluster Group – where she interviewed ‘cluster leads’ around the UK, and produced a report that was presented to the Digital Minister at an event at 10 Downing Street in 2019.
Kirsty is a member of the Marketing Research Society.
