Reflecting on the current lockdown, we want to showcase the tremendous work some of our clients and friends in the business community are doing to support their clients and local communities.
Simpsons Malt
Simpsons Malt went into “support not sales” mode. The family-owned global malt manufacturer has been focusing on helping its customers sell online through the #BeerIsHere campaign. A vital lifeline while pubs, bars and restaurants are closed.
It’s disappointing that this year’s Craft Brewers Conference in Texas was cancelled, it’s wonderful that the brewing community continue to support each other.
NECS
Another group of superstars we’ve been proud to support are our friends at North East Counselling Services (NECS). In just a week, NECS shifted its entire service online, taking all counselling sessions over the phone or online via Zoom. It’s fantastic to see them pivot to continue to provide support in a time when mental health is a huge struggle for people.
Bernicia
The Bernicia Foundation has donated £200,000 towards local charities – tremendous! We’re very proud to work with such a kind-hearted team.
Sunderland Business Improvement District
The Sunderland BID team has worked around the clock to tirelessly support shops, cafes and restaurants around Sunderland’s city centre. They are carrying out crucial work helping small businesses figure out a new norm, access funding and innovate to survive.
NECC
North East England Chamber of Commerce’s has had to become agile by seamlessly running their usual face-to-face events online. They’ve also provided live advice on government policies as it’s announced – while lobbying on all our behalf.
MMC
Lastly, at MMC, we’re supporting our own small team by adopting a fully flexible working ethos around our family commitments. Whilst flexibility is something we’ve always offered our team, it now means that some of our people need to work evenings and weekends, rather than typical weekday hours, to accommodate small children and homeschooling – or baking!
We’re also providing online counselling to anyone in the team who feels it could help them with their mental health. Naturally, we wouldn’t look anywhere other than NECS!
