What is desk research
Desk research, or ‘secondary research’, is information that already exists or data sets you already have on file that can feed into the bigger picture, offering foundational knowledge before embarking on any primary research (surveys or interviews and focus groups) – we study all available data.
We typically review a range of data on clients’ behalf. From pulling together potential customer lists, to looking at market conditions, market growth assessments to academic studies, competitor data to publicly available data – we examine everything.
MMC use subscription databases such as Mintel, Cobra, Statista, Euromonitor, Gartner, and CACI, supplemented with AI insight - we leave no stone unturned.
What will your report look like?
Typically, desk research output is a Word document providing you with an executive summary and breakdown of findings supported by reference sources. If the requirement is contact information and data, you will receive an Excel spreadsheet.
We always spend time to talk you through the data. If it’s informing design of primary research, then we’ll explain in detail what the key takeaways are.
