VANTEC is one of the top global manufacturing and logistics solution providers, and a tier one supplier to Nissan, Rolls Royce and Bentley.
Established in 1990, VANTEC has grown organically and developed its range of services to become a preferred 3PL provider, and have also established significant partnerships with its other customers such as; Komatsu UK and Thorn Lighting.
We’re proud to have worked with VANTEC on this project on its employee recruitment and retention strategy.
Aim
Located in an area of the North East dense in manufacturing and logistics organisations of all shapes, sizes and reputation, VANTEC is acutely aware of the pressure of attracting and retaining staff increases in a competitive sector. Hiring and retaining the right people is essential to it’s continued global success.
They’re also dedicated to ensuring that their employer branding, rewards and incentives, and their overarching culture are at a level to ensure they are nurturing the best talent pool in the region, as well as retaining its 800+ workforce. Our research focused on establishing this level, as well as identifying any stand-out areas of success or in need of improvement.
Work
To gauge perceptions across the VANTEC workforce, MMC Research conducted a 10-minute online survey with staff from various locations. The survey was promoted online and via a QR code in rest areas, as well as in its regular newsletter.
We then broke down the results into subgroups and conducted two focus groups to provide in-depth insights and recommendations to their HR and Recruitment teams. These included a mix of respondents who were classed as ‘engaged’, ‘not engaged’ and those that would recommend VANTEC as a place to work and those who would not, and why.
Results
The results of both the research project led to the development of VANTEC’s employer branding strategy, the roll out of regular digital and in person information meetings with the Managing Director, and enhanced knowledge-sharing of apprenticeship opportunities to develop its future pipeline of talent.
